Session started at 6:38 pm on 10/24/06

Attending players: Michael, Ben, Sarah, and Eva

Presiding GM: Aaron

(We spend a little time talking about how we can spend Karma. I can initiate for 13 [10 + 3 x level of initiation] and then buy my magic rating up to 7 for 21 [new level, 7 x 3]. I have 30 Karma right now, so I have to save up 4 more to do it all at once.)

We take a week off after our last job to relax. It was nice to have some time for exercise without people shooting at me. I bought curtains for my apartment and my disks finally arrived from Spain. I have to remember to thank Ajax for hooking me up with the guy who handled that.

Our fearless leader has been in contact with Vasquez trying to line up more work for us. He's has been a bit hyper and overly cheerful. It seems like down time does that to him.

It's Tuesday, Sept. 30th.

Ajax's babbling about a kitten factory. I'm not sure if he's serious or not.

I guess not. He mentions that he has a delivery job lined up. The Johnson doesn't seem to anticipate any resistance, so hopefully it won't be too bad.

("50% discount on vampires if you tell us about them before hand." ~ Ben)

Ajax is getting the details via comlink. The quoted pay was 5000K. The job is apparently for a friend of his, so Ajax doesn't want to bleed him too much.

We got paid in advance, 1500 NY for me.

The address where we have to pick the package up is the Seattle Memorial Hospital. Ajax says the room we have to go to is an operating room. There's a Jane Doe who's going under the knife when we're supposed to be there. Her records are locked down by LoanStar. After a few minutes, Ajax says that the woman's name is Madeline O'Shaunasee. He can't get much other info. He says it looks like LoanStar will be camping the operating room to protect her.

So, after some thought, our initial plan involves making space for ourselves in another operating room nearby with a scheduling error. Then the doctor and I will try to bluff our way in to say the keyword to the folks in the operating room. We were hoping they are getting supplies from the hospital that we can deliver.

(Apparently Madeline O'Shaunasee is Rowena O'Mallie's niece. Ajax discovers this from a data search but doesn't tell us.)

Ajax is going back into the hospital system to get more info and set up the empty operating room for us. (He has some exciting cyber-combat after the hospital detects him.) He apparently had some trouble with that. I didn't know hacking could give you nose bleeds.

We have some vague plan involving uniforms and bluffing. It'll be great....

We head downtown. The higher security areas require active comlinks and there is a metal detector at the entrance to the hospital. We left our weapons in the car and B has fake permits for his various illegal bits. We manage to get into the laundry in the basement and steal some appropriate doctor/nurse garb.

The elevator takes us all the way up to the 13th floor without any sort of key. Sloppy. There are two LoneStar guards in the hall, lounging in chairs. B and Ajax slip into an adjacent empty room.

The doctor and I have a complex bluffing plan, but it's not really needed. When we approach and begin our bluff the guards ask if we're the "pickup people" and let us in. One of them comments "You're really good, I almost thought you were really a doctor!" to the doctor!

In the operating room there's a woman resting in a patient bed. She's a bit drugged up and she's holding a bundle. It's a new born baby boy... lovely. Ajax assured us the cargo wasn't live. Fucking Lying Johnsons.

She says the baby's name is Ian. She kind of hazily comments that her aunt's coming and is angry. When the doctor asks her why her aunt is angry she says the aunt doesn't want the baby to be alive. How exciting...

Ajax won't tell me who the aunt is. That definitely sounds bad. We need to get moving now.

("Excuse me Mr. Car sir, could you please not run over me? I'm right here. You saw me diving in front of you."
~ Ben, after Ajax asks if B can drive)

We have to take the kid out to the Salish Sidhe lands now. Ajax asks me to drive while he does some online stuff. I think he's prepping some digital trail to get us past the border guards. He says he's set up the doctor to look like the kid's mom.

"That's my get out of town SIN!... Fine. I give [the baby] my SIN."
~ Ajax

Ajax finally coughs up the fact that we might be carrying the nephew of the Rowena O'Mallie, one of the heads of the Seattle mob. This is the sort of information I like to know up front! Ajax is pretty sure the kid's father is a friend of his contact. It sounds like we are getting woefully underpaid.

("It's in the middle of the woods. You'll have to hike."
~ Aaron
"This is why you should own a hover van."
~ Eva)

We have to get across the border. Everything seems pretty normal as we head north. The traffic is pretty light, but it's also late at night.

The doctor checks to make sure that nothing magical is following us.

"There's nothing following us and the baby is a Technomancer."
~ the Doctor
"Is there anything you can do about that?"
~ Ajax
"I can."
~ B
"Baethan, you contribution to the rest of this run is quiet."
~ Ajax

The doctor also says the kid is lactose intolerant. Formula it is then.

We pull up to the border. The guard pulls us over to check why there are five people in the car with four comlinks. We show them the baby, pretend the doctor is the mother, and declare the two pretendedly legal guns with fake licenses. They let us through with no issues.

About twenty minutes across the border we stop and buy some baby supplies. The doctor has to feed and dress him but then he goes back to sleep. We got a baby sling thing you wear on your chest so the doctor will be able to carry him pretty safely.

We get to the location closest to where we're going. We make the one hour hike in the rain and there's no one there. Ajax sheepishly mentions that we don't need to be there for 12 hours. Grrr....

We walk the hour back to the car, in the rain. Ajax suggests we go to a motel. He offers to pay which pacifies the rest of us a bit. We manage to get a decent room with two twin beds. B and I are not planing to sleep, so that's fine.

At 3am there's a knock on the door. I shake the doctor gently to wake her up while Ajax goes to check the door. There's a big guy there. I move over by Ajax just in case. The guy at the door tries to politely ask if we have a baby in the room. Ajax pretends to be sleepy and gruff and eventually tells the guy to go away that we don't have a baby. The guy apologizes and goes away. Jesus. If he was a runner he was the dumbest runner in the history of searching hotels. The doctor says he went down the hall and knocked on the next door to ask if they have a baby...

We move the doctor into the bathroom. Since it has no window we'll all be able to guard her pretty well. The doctor spends an hour setting up a level one ward to make sure no one bugs her astrally. She goes back to sleep in the bath tub with the baby tucked in next to her.

The rest of the night is uneventful. We get out, concealing the baby on the way to the car and drive/hike out to the meet site. There's a LoneStar perimeter set up around it and they wave us through. There's a guy in a brown suit waiting for us. He ask if that's his son. We say yes and tell him about his son's lactose intolerance and the fact that he's a Technomancer. He seems a bit shocked, but glad to have his kid.

We take a different, scenic route back south and stop for a good local meal before we hit the border. The rest of the drive home is uneventful.
