Shiney "New" Sewing Machine
I've got some cleaning and restoration ahead of me, but I'm soooooooo excited! :D
Comments:Ooh, a Singer Sphinx! Do you know when it was made? I have one from about 1925; it belonged to my husband's grandmother. Like yours, the cabinet was used as a plant stand and I had to find another vintage top to replace it, but the machine appears to run well.
Glad you liked how quite the W&G machine is...I love using it.
Pretty kitty friend there behind the Singer, by the way. It's fun how kitties like sewing.
Best,
ZipZip
Thanks ZipZip! :)
Fortunately I've got a friend who love fixing things. At least one has suggested replacing the top lid (which is worst off), if I can't salvage it, with a new one made of hardwood. He thinks we could probably do it for around $30, so I may give in and do that depending on how things go.
Our kittens keep trying to "help." The one behind the machine in the close up of the sphinx decal was trying to eat the lever that lowers the presser foot while I was trying to get pictures. I'm not sure what her obsession with chewing on metal is. -_-'
What a pretty baby!!! Love the sphinx decal! You'll have lots of fun with this pretty baby. ;)
Kitties are doing well, I see. (grin)
Love you!
:) Linda
I like how Miska is hiding behind it, ready to spring at anything that moves!Post a Comment
Cool-looking machine; I'll bet if you get it refurbished it will last damn near forever.
