Misc.

I bought a pocket watch while I was out running errands yesterday. I had been eyeing it up for about 6 months, and my wrist watch was getting sad, so I thought I'd just go ahead and see if I can adjust to using it as my only watch. It's an old wound watch, which I find highly amusing. The gears inside are visible through both sides of the watch and it is a bit smaller than the standard "pocket" sized watch so it will be a bit easier for me to carry. It also came with a matching watch chain (very cool).

The second dose of the Triple Sulfa medicine (which is a broad spectrum anti-biotic) went into my fish tank last night. There are two more doses to go, but the fish are not improving, so I went out and picked up some anti-fungal medicine today. I can't use the fungal medicine until I'm done with the Triple Sulfa, so it will be two to three more days. Hopefully that will work if the Triple Sulfa does not.

I managed to get the tank temperature down to 78 degrees (F) by lowering the temperature in our apartment. I think the problem was that the apartment was too warm during the day when we were off at work.

My corset is about 75% done. I had to add some additional boning for more support. I sewed in the extra casings last night, so now I just have to cut and tip the bones and bind the edges of the corset. I'm torn on whether to put a dart into the bust area, as I think it's a tad too big. We'll see what it looks like with more boning I guess.

I've managed to arrange some modern stuff to wear under the corset, except I still need some drawers/bloomers. I'm going to try to sew myself a pair of bloomers today. They won't be period correct, but they should be acceptable as underwear and period "inspired" outer wear. Depending on how well they turn out I may make some pajama pants using the same pattern later. I don't know if I'll get to tracing the petticoat pattern I want to use today or not. We'll see how much patience I've got.

I finished the last Potter book on Thursday. Sorry I was a tad cryptic in my last post. Toothaches make me grumpy.

Careful not to over wind the thing. You'll eventually break the regulator dohicky and your watch will run very very fast.

Can I get permission to use that picture for a non-profit purpose?

Hi Tofudisan,

You may have permission to use the image associated with this post for a non-profit purpose, as long as you label it as being copyright me (Eva Schiffer) in 2007.
Also, if you're using it online, please make a copy of the image file and host it on your server. :)

What are you planning to use it for?

I'm a long-time member of PhotoshopContest.com (aka PSC). We're an online community of digital image manipulation artists. The idea behind PSC is that each day a 'source image' is provided to the members. Members then modify that source image however they see fit and then post their work (known as a chop) back to PSC for 3 days of peer review. During those 3 days we cast votes for the chops we like the best for that daily source (each member gets 25 votes per contest).

Paid subscription members such as myself are allowed to submit photos for consideration as daily source image candidates. I'd either like to submit your photo as a daily source candidate (or use it as an element in one of my own future chops). The original image would be resized to 1280x960 and 512KB in size.

The contest winner basically gets bragging rights for a day. Occasionally there are prizes donated for the contests. Usually the prizes are valued at under $100.

So I guess, technically, it might not be considered non-profit usage (the site owner does make money off of the Google AdSense and paid subscriptions). However the photo would NOT be used for printing or other media publishing. PSC does not resell it's content at all. Derivative works from the daily source are jointly copyrighted by PSC and the artist creating the chop so they would only be used within the confines of PSC.

Labeling the original photo as your copyright is not a problem. The source image is hosted on PSC's servers as are all derived works. So there would be no hot linking of the image on your site at all.

If you want to rescind permission I totally and completely understand. I always ask permission with the understanding that the photo is ultimately not mine. More information about PSC can be found at photoshopcontest.com/faq/help.html.

Note that I am NOT the owner of PSC nor do I represent him. I am merely a contributing member of the PSC community. My screen name at PSC is "TofuTheGreat". If you'd like to look up some sort of background on me go to photoshopcontest.com/boards/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=6697

Cheers!

Christopher
