Good Things to Come
I finished scanning another period fashion magazine this week. This one is a copy of the Delineator from July of 1883. It's the very tail end of the natural form period, my personal favorite time. Unfortunately I've had a lot more luck finding resources both before and after this time period. Oh well.
Anyway, the full set of scans should be up some time in the next week or so, just as soon as I get ImageMagick working (frikkin crappy binaries...). I'll try to post a link when it's up.
Update: The issue is now up!
Comments:Just curious -- why is this period called 'natural form'??? I'm sorry to say that the outfit in the picture you show does _not_ look 'natural' in any sense that I understand. (grin)
:) Linda
Good question! The magazine is actually a mixture of natural form gowns and some of the very early late bustle gowns. That one in particular is a bustle gown (perhaps I should have given a different picture so as to be less confusing).Post a Comment
I thought it was kind of neat that that issue showed mixed styles during the transition period. :)
If you want a good overview of the periods with pictures there's one on the Truly Victorian website:
